18:42Let’s compare the two approaches to the problem…
This demonstration explains the required browser choice; it does not open a real share picker.
Actively choose what to share. Keep only the audio.

Choose the source before recording starts
Check browser support
Use Chrome or Edge on a Mac or Windows computer.
Choose the meeting audio
Select the class tab when possible and enable “Also share tab audio.”
Record and save
Stop when class ends; the audio saves before transcript processing continues.
No meeting participant required
Keep the class audio.
Leave bots out of the call.
You choose the browser tab or supported screen through the browser’s own share interface. ClassLecture stores the captured audio—not the shared video.
No bot joins
Nothing enters the participant list or asks to be admitted to the class.
Store audio only
The shared video track keeps browser capture active, but it is never recorded or stored.
Find the moment later
The saved audio becomes a searchable transcript with timestamps back to the recording.

Online Class Recorder Questions
Meeting audio capture is narrower than microphone recording. Unsupported devices can upload a recording or use Lecture Recorder near the speaker.
Does a recording bot join the meeting?
No. You actively choose a meeting tab or supported screen through the browser share picker. ClassLecture does not join as a participant.
Does ClassLecture record video?
No. Browsers require screen or tab sharing to expose meeting audio, but ClassLecture records and stores the audio only. Shared video is not stored.
Which browsers and devices are supported?
Meeting-audio capture requires Chrome or Edge on a Mac or Windows computer. Mobile browsers, tablets, Safari, and Firefox cannot provide the required meeting audio to this workflow.
How do I include the class audio?
Choose the browser tab containing the class when possible and enable “Also share tab audio.” For a supported whole-screen source, enable system audio in the share picker.
Can my microphone be included?
Yes. You can choose to mix your microphone into the meeting audio. If microphone permission is blocked, the meeting audio can continue without it.
Does it work with Zoom, Google Meet, and Microsoft Teams?
It can capture these classes when their audio is available through a shared browser tab or supported system-audio source. Browser-tab meetings are the most reliable choice.
What if the shared source has no audio?
Nothing is recorded from a silent share. Choose the meeting tab and enable “Also share tab audio,” or enable system audio for a supported whole-screen share, then try again.
Can I capture the Zoom desktop app on a Mac?
Whole-screen system audio for the Zoom desktop app requires Chrome 141 or newer on macOS 14.2 or newer. Otherwise, join the class in a browser tab or upload the recording afterward.
What happens after class?
Stop and save the audio to your class. ClassLecture then prepares a searchable timestamped transcript while the saved recording remains available.
Can I upload an existing meeting recording?
Yes. Use Upload a Recording on any supported device if you already have an audio or video file.
Can I start free?
Yes. You can create a class workspace and check support before starting the recording.
